Georgia Crush wins tournament behind play of Barnett, McAvoy
BARNETT The Georgia Crush baseball team from Royston, Georgia, won its third National Invitational Tournament last weekend in Spartenburg, S.C. The Crush defeated teams from both South Carolina and North Carolina to take the championship.
First up for the Crush was the Carolina Outlaws. Behind the pitching of D.J. Barnett the Crush smashed its opponent by a score of 8-0. Next up was the Carolina Heat. Led by the hitting of Trey McAvoy and Barnett, the Crush again won easily 14-3.
In the championship game, the Crush was paired against the Carolina Heels. Once again, Coach Allen Seymour sent Barnett to the mound to capture the championship.With pouring down rain and cold conditions, it was a hard fought game that the Crush won by a score of 14-12.
Barnett and McAvoy are both Washington residents and both
play a big part in the success of this travel baseball team," Coach Seymour said.
