PRD announces food service

The Washington-Wilkes Parks & Recreation Commission in cooperation with the Wilkes County Community Partnership has announced the sponsorship of the Office of School Readiness Summer Food Service Program.

Meals will be provided to all children without charge. Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all, regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, age, or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.

All meals will be served on a first come, first served basis, with a maximum of 125 meals served per day.

Free lunch will be available to all Wilkes County children between the ages of two and 18, Monday through Friday, June 12 through July 21, (except July 4) from 12:00-1:00 p.m., at the Reese Booker Community Center, 118 Whitehall Street in Washington.

Afternoon activities will include track and field events, arts and crafts and other supervised play.
