Shooting Club to offer summer clinics
The Lake Oconee Shooting Club (LOSC) wants to familiarize and educate kids ages 12 to 18 years with the challenging sports of archery and shooting. Each month, beginning in June, LOSC has scheduled one week of shotgun/archery clinics to be held Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The clinics are designed to teach the kids safety techniques and basic fundamentals of shotgun and archery sports.
The first half of each day will consist of shotgun sports: learning gun safety and nomenclature, gun mounting, stance, eye dominancy, and patterning board. Instruction will be given in a classroom setting as well as outside at the 5 stand, skeet and trap fields and sporting clays course. The second half of the day will focus on archery sports: safety, archery history, target archery, equipment, mental concentration, and self-improvement. As the week progresses the kids will put all of the elements together on the shooting and archery courses.
Clinics will be held June 12-16, July 20-14, and August 7-11. Each child will get hands on experience. All equipment needed for participation will be provided by LOSC. Clinic size is limited.
