Qualifying for non-partisan candidates for two Wilkes County Board of Education seats will be open during the week of June 26.

"The qualifying will open at 9 a.m. on June 26, and close at 12 noon on June 30," said Supervisor of Elections Jim Burton. "This is the time for persons that are interested in offering for Board of Education in District 1 and 2 to pay the fee and complete the paperwork to establish their candidacy."

The qualifying fee for Board of Education seats is $72, and qualifying may be done only at the office of the Judge of Probate Court, Room 422 in the Wilkes County Court House.

The Board of Education offices will not appear on the ballot in the primary election set for July 18, but they will be on the ballot for the General Election in November.
