It's June already. I hope you all enjoy your summer as it will come and go real quick. Happy birthday to all of you celebrating a birthday this week (and in June.) A few I know about are Lauree Shelton, Alice Ingram, Lona I. Chesnut, Larry McPherson, and Gene B. Hall. We had a nice first Sunday at Ebenezer Baptist Church Sunday, with about 95 present. Rev. Huyck's sermon was about Paul's formula for success. Joni Bruce presented special music with sign language. She did an excellent job. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Marett placed flowers in the church. Our homebound member for June is Mrs. Lois South. We had a successful Vacation Bible School last week. Lauree Shelton was the director. Linda and Johnny Shelton also worked hard with crafts, recreation, etc. Rhonda Roberson and Inez Hall took care of the food planning, preparing, etc., for the week. We enjoyed our adult class with James Smith, Linda Smith, and Rhonda teaching. Thanks for coming and thanks to all the workers. Rev. and Mrs. Jim Newsome of Vero Beach, Fla., returned home Friday after visiting his mother, Mrs. Jenelle Newsome, for several days. They visited their son, Jamie Newsome, Mrs. Newsome, and Anna, in Martinez several times during the week, and the Jamie Newsomes visited in Washington with them several times. Mrs. Beatrice N. Sherrer visited the Newsomes while they were here. Tanner Barnett of Winterville spent the week with G.B. and me and enjoyed VBS at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Visitors of Miss Grace Dunaway and Alex Dunaway during the week were Mrs. Troy Brown, Mrs. Linda Standard, Mrs. Sara Huff, and Bobbi Thornton. Russell Goldman of Doraville, Randy Goldman of Lincoln County, Cassie Goldman and Mitch Taylor of Washington visited Mrs. Sara Huff Sunday. They enjoyed dinner with Mrs. Keith Standard and family. Peyton Standard returned home from Louisiana after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Chris Standard and Hunter. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips visited Rebecca Phillips in Conyers on Memorial Day. Thursday, Mr. and Mrs. Phillips and Stephanie Haynes visited in Augusta. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips, Mrs. Sara Huff, and Mrs. Linda Standard were among those who attended a birthday retirement party for Larry McPherson at the McPherson home Saturday evening. Chip Haynes enjoyed Vacation Bible School at Ebenezer last week. Mr. and Mrs. Matt Ryll, Connor and Calley, spent last Sunday and Monday with Mrs. Lucille Turpin. They also visited this past weekend.

Trudy Ingram and a friend, Sue Harrison, enjoyed a trip to Augusta Saturday. Trudy Ingram attended a memorial service for Mrs. Geraldine Montgomery in Thomson Sunday. Miss Betty Moore spent the weekend with Mrs. Barbara Adams. I attended the funeral for Capt. Linda Kitchens McDonald at Poteet Funeral Chapel in Martinez Friday. Mrs. McDonald passed away suddenly after a brief illness. I visited Mrs. Linda C. Reid in Martinez late Friday evening. Linda carried me out for supper. I visited Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Dragon and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sleister in Columbia County recently. Sunday, I went to Lincoln County to visit my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wallace. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Goff of McCormick, and Garnett Wallace also visited. Sincere sympathy to all who lost loved ones recently. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Our prayer concerns include Mrs. Mary Wright, Herman Wheatley, Bobby Blakey, Doris Rhodes, Suzette Kopecky, Jack Strother, Joan Geddings, Mrs. Lois South, Linda Albea, Claire Nelson, Hudson's grandson, Bill Mobley, Gary Rogers, Ann Corbett, Roberta Roper, Claude Davis, Mike Webb, Henry Wallace, Dot Shank, Ethel Harris, Evans Davis, Kathryn Padgett, Judy Wright, Henry Whitener, Flora Ann McGill, Karen Lindsey, Juanita Bradford, Trudie Sutherland, Bruce Dragon, Judy Sleister, the family of Capt. Linda

Kitchens McDonald, the family of Jean Stump Burris, Mary Gunter, Grace Dunaway, Priscilla Maxwell, O.R. Thomason, Roselle Dawkins, Anna Ray Yearwood, Marjorie Tyler, Gertrude Tyler, and Claudelle Bonner. I carried my mother to Augusta to see one of her doctors on Tuesday of last week. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Barnett on the birth of a baby girl. The proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Tanner, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bentley, and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Barnett. Aonia needs rain. We have not gotten very much lately. It seems to rain all around us. So please, Lord, send us a nice soaking rain. Thank you. I had the misfortune of losing one of my cats - about 12 years old, maybe more. Bill Hooten gave the cat to me and we really are going to miss her. Sophia was her name.
