Nettie Merriweather Nettie Merriweather was guest of honor at a 75th birthday celebration at her home on May 27. Her birthday was May 25.

The party was planned by her children and grandchildren as a surprise. All the activity surrounding the party caused her to become very suspicious and Mrs. Merriweather soon "figured out" that a celebration was to be held in her honor.

Festivities were just as exciting and a host of friends and family was present. Included were her sister, Theron Jones of Cordele; her sonin law and daughter, Joe and Linda Doughty of Washington; also sons, Emmitt Ashley, also of Washington, and J.D. Merriweather of Marietta and a host of nieces and nephews from Jacksonville and Ocala, Fla., Philadelphia, Penn., Cordele and Atlanta.

Everyone enjoyed a very bountiful dinner and desserts of every flavor as they gathered to celebrate.
