Mack Secord (left), a retired U.S. Air Force pilot and member of the Georgia Angel Flight Program, talked to the Washington Kiwanis Club at its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 27. Secord explained that the Georgia Angel Flight Program provides free non-emergency flights to and from medical treatment facilities for those individuals in need for such services that cannot be filled locally. He said that 1,786 missions were flown in 2006 and that 60 percent were for children under the age of 12. The Georgia Angel Flight Program was established by Jim Shafer in 1984 and includes over 600 pilots and 400 ground volunteers in seven states. Secord was assisted in his presentation by John Hancock (right). More information is available at www.angelflight-ga.org. Chris Hughes was the program host for the day.
