Mulberry Young Adult Choir celebrates 2nd anniversary
The Mulberry Baptist Church Young Adult Choir celebrated its second anniversary Sunday, June 25, with Ida Teasley serving as the mistress of ceremonies.
Deacons from the Mt. Nebo and Fortson Grove Baptist churches began the celebration with a highlyspirited devotional service. Melani Jennings welcomed those present and Linda Downer read scripture.
Melani Jennings sang "I'm Coming Lord" as the choir marched down the aisle dressed in their white and green robes adorned with a dove symbol on the back of the stole and the choir initials on the front. Following two more choir selections, Krystal Crawford read the history of the choir.
A spectacular parade of choirs continued the program with each choir rendering one or two choral selections. Rev. Lance Pitts sang "Won't It Be Grand" as the Mulberry Baptist Church Choir members lifted a public offering.
Shelia Cofer presented special tokens of appreciation to Petrina Cullars and LaShon Baker following the parade of choirs. On behalf of the choir, Brenda Brown, the choir's director, thanked everyone for their participation.
Rev. Robert Crawford, pastor of Mulberry Baptist Church, greeted the congregation and gave the final remarks and the blessing for the meal. Everyone enjoyed lasagna, pasta, salmon, tuna, and Caesar salads, pickles, kernel corn, rolls, sweet potato pie, and a variety of cakes, tea and punch immediately following the program.
Members of the choir expressed appreciation to the following people and choirs for making the program a success: Petrina Cullars and the Fortson Grove Baptist Musicians for providing music; Jay Murray for his video service; LaShon Baker for catering the meal; Mt.
