Michael Davidson Brown is the latest member of his family to graduate from the School of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia.

When Michael graduated he was near the front of a long line of new doctors and was also a sixth generation of his family to graduate from the School of Medicine.

It all began with his great-greatgreat grandfather, Dr. Paul Chase Davidson, in 1842. Other family members to follow were:

Dr. Paul Chase Davidson, greatgreat great-grandfather, class of 1842;

Dr. Arthur Chase Davidson, greatgreat grandfather, class of 1877;

Dr. Lawrence Ruffin Brown, great-grandfather, class of 1888;

Dr. Felix Bertelle Brown, Class of 1926;

Dr. Walter E. Brown, great-uncle, class of 1930;

Dr. Walter E. Brown Jr., second cousin, class of 1964; Dr. Alan K. Brown, brother, class of 1999; and now,

Dr. Michael Davidson Brown, class of 2206.

The newest doctor is a 1997 graduate of Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School and is the son of Lawrence C. Brown, an attorney in Atlanta, and Renee Brown, superintendent of schools in Taliaferro County.

Most of these doctors are from Sharon, a very small town in Taliaferro County. The two-room office used by Dr. Michael Brown's greatgreat grandfather, Arthur Chase Davidson, still sits on the family homestead in Sharon. Dr. Alan K. Brown, Dr. Michael Brown's brother, said that he had no idea how far back the lineage went. "I knew that we had come from a long line of doctors because we had the old doctor's office in our yard," he said, "but had no idea it was six generations."

Dr. Michael Brown will pursue his upcoming residency at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
