David Martin is named math award winner by Achievement Academy

David Martin, a student at Washington Wilkes Middle School, has been named a United States National Award Winner in Mathematics by the United States Achievement Academy, The Academy r e c o g n i z e s fewer than 10 percent of all American high school students and the award is a prestigious honor.

David was nominated by his teacher, Lee Collins, and his biographical information will appear in the Academy's official yearbook which is published nationally.

The Academy selects winners upon the exclusive recommendation of teachers, coaches, counselors, and other qualified sponsors and upon the Standards of Selection set forth by the Academy. The criteria for selection are a student's academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, citizenship, attitude and cooperative spirit, dependability, and recommendation from a qualified sponsor.

David is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Martin of Tignall. His grandparents are Mrs. Doris Martin of Evans, and the late Ben Martin; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Tabor Jackson of Tignall.
