Three Little League All-Star teams set to begin tournament games

All-Star teams representing the Washington-Wilkes Little League girls softball, monor league, and major league have begun practice and will compete in area, district, and state tournaments beginning as early as this weekend.

The minor league (ages 9-10) begin competition on Friday, June 30 at Satterfield Park in Athens with

three games scheduled. The first game will be played Friday at 8 p.m. followed by games Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.

Major league All-Stars will compete in their tournament at Williamsport Park in Elberton July 6-8.

The firls softball All-Stars are so good nobody in the district wanted to come to Washington to play, so they got a bye to the state tournament. They will begin play July 15 in Bogart, Georgia, and will continue through July 22.

"Our All-Star teams have been working extremely hard this summer," said Washington-Wilkes Little League president Tommy Saggus. "Please come out and suppoer our youth."
