New Salem Baptist Church will have a Family and Friends Day Service Sunday, July 16, 3 p.m. Lemuel O. Billingsley, pastor of Mount Perry Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker. Dinner will be served prior to the service. Pastor Reynolds and the congregation extend an invitation to everyone to attend.
The Washington Lions Club will have chicken barbecue plates for sale on Saturday, August 12, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the clubhouse on Spring Street. Cost is $6.00 per plate. The last barbecue was a sell-out before 10:30 a.m., so it may be wise the get tickets early.

White Rock Baptist Church, Lincolnton, will celebrate its 132nd anniversary Sunday, July 16, 2 p.m., with Rev. Johnny R. Hatney and the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Augusta, in charge. Dinner will be served.
In conjunction with the "Support Your Local Sheriff: Ride for Gary" poker run on Saturday, July 22, a chicken barbecue sale will be held at the Young Farmers building on North Alexander Avenue, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with all proceeds going to the Gary Rogers family for medical expenses. Jerry Hackney and Charlie Burgess are in charge of the barbecue and plates will be $6.00 each for a half-chicken, baked beans, slaw, and bread. Tickets may be purchased at Washington Ford Mercury or Poss-Ace Hardware.
