Students in the Independence United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School participated in a variety of activities during the week. For the first time in a decade there was Vacation Bible School at Independence United Methodist Church, Tignall.

There were 17 children and 15 adults who participated in being archeologists in "The Adventure of the Treasure Seekers." They enjoyed stories, music, crafts and snacks. In addition to the individual crafts, the children also made cards for the residents at Wilkes Health Care; made a huge banner for the church; and as a mission project collected more than 118 cans of food for the food pantry in Washington.

The week ended with a program in the sanctuary where the children shared with family and friends what they learned throughout the week. The crafts and banner were displayed in the fellowship hall as everyone filled their plates with hotdogs, baked beans, and chips for a picnic on the grounds.

The crowd was entertained by "Secret Place," a praise band from Jefferson. As people listened to the band they enjoyed watermelon, ice cream, and a beautiful cake provided by the Washington First United Methodist Church.
