Mrs. George Wheatley of Metasville called to tell me that her brother, Roy Hopkins of San Diego, California, spent a week recently with them and their sister-in-law, Mrs. Boyce Hopkins. He enjoyed seeing a number of relatives and friends who visited them during the week. One afternoon they came to Lundberg where they grew up, to visit the graves of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hopkins at Clifford's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. They also enjoyed riding around to see old familiar places, although Lundberg has changed lot, it brought back pleasant memories. Mr. and Mrs. Ricky McCarty attended the Griffin family reunion (her mother's family) in Thomaston on Sunday, July 2. That evening they joined other family members at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby McCarty to celebrate his sixty-ninth birthday. Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer joined friends at the Wilkes County Baptist Church and enjoyed the inside picnic after morning services on the Sunday before the Fourth of July. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Atkinson (Jennifer Lance) on Berkshire Drive in Washington was the scene of a delightful Fourth of July cookout with many friends, neighbors, and kinfolks enjoying all the delicious food. Those from our area were Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lance, Mrs. Iris Dyson, and Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer. Mrs. Cheryle Holsclaw of Union Point spent several days with Mr. and Mrs. Ricky McCarty. Mrs. Ricky McCarty enjoyed having little Madison Kay of Sharon spend Friday afternoon with her. Mrs. Iris Dyson and Lance Hopkins visited Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hopkins at their lakehouse at the Fish and Game Club in Elbert County Sunday. Also joining them were Mr. and Mrs. Justin Turner. Mrs. Bill Scoggins and Hannah came Sunday afternoon to see Mr. and Mrs. Evans Davis. Hannah stayed to spend a few days this week with them. Mrs. Juanita Bradford, Mr. and Mrs. John Sutherland and Brad joined Mr. and Mrs. Terry Bradford in Washington Saturday for a family gathering. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bradford and Olivia of Houston, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Morris Bradford, Mattie and Zane, Greenville, Ala.; and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bradford, Tonya, Bill and Tyler of Thomson. Mrs. Tom Caldwell of Thomson visited Mrs. Iris Dyson Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Blain of Dahlonega visited Mr. and Mrs. Evans Davis Friday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Branham and Beth of McCaysville visited Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Branham, Whitney and Charlie Wednesday afternoon. They had stopped in Athens and taken their uncle, Philip Huff, out to lunch to celebrate his birthday. They went to Statesboro to spend the night with Ann and Josh Caldwell and they all went to Myrtle Beach for the weekend. Whitney Branham was among the youth group of Tignall Baptist Church who enjoyed the trip to "Wild Adventure" in Valdosta. They spent Friday night.
