Funeral services for Alma (Hut) Moore, 98, were held Saturday, July 8, 2006, at the Davenport-McLendon Chapel, Washington, with Rev. G.L. Avery officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Rayle. She died Tuesday, July 4, in Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington.

Mrs. Moore was a native and lifelong resident of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Gresham. She was an excellent cook and homemaker and had worked for Gennie and the late S.T. Callaway and the Wynne family for 22 years. Even after becoming a double amputee, she continued to cook for herself and clean her own house. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include two special nieces, Mollie Flemming Lester and Louise Watson, both of Athens; and a special nephew, Jimmy Byrd of Danielsville.

Davenport-McLendon Mortuary of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
