Graveside services for Auford James, 85, of Greensboro Road, Washington, were held Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Larron Pilgrim and Rev. Kathy Lamon officiating. He died Sunday, July 2, in Wills Memorial Hospital.

Mr. James was born in Alcorn County, Mississippi, and had lived in Washington for 10 years. He was the son of the late Job James and Molly Johnson James, and the widower of Lillian James. He attended Bethel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Dell James of Washington.

Pallbearers included Marvin Weaver, Billy Chafin, Charles Chafin, Virgil Wolter, Joey Scott, and Ronnie James.

Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
