Homecoming, revival slated beginning Sunday at Sardis
McDONALD Sardis Baptist Church in Rayle will have a homecoming service on Sunday, July 16, with Rev. Chris Carpenter bringing the message and Malcolm (Mac) McDonald of Rome leading the music.
The homecoming service will begin at 11 a.m. with a covered dish meal to follow. No evening service will be held.
Revival services will begin Monday, July 17, and continue through Wednesday at 7 p.m. each evening. Rev. Carpenter will be preaching and Mr. McDonald will be leading the singing. There will be special music for each service.
Rev. Carpenter is pastor of the First Baptist Church of Pearson. He is a graduate of Truett-McConnell College, Berry College, and McAfee School of Theology, Mercer University in Atlanta. He is the son of Sardis Pastor Rev. John Mark Carpenter and his wife Betty. He is married to the former Janice Ridaught of Hawthorne, Fla., and they have three children.
Song Leader McDonald is a retired Berry College professor and a member of Garden Lakes Baptist Church in Rome where he serves as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and a member of the choir. He is married to the former Jean Vaughn of Rayle and they have two grown daughters.
The congregation of Sardis extends an invitation to everyone to attend. A nursery will be provided for all services.
