To promote June as Beef Month, the Wilkes County Cattlemen's Association in cooperation with Watchmaker's Restaurant sponsored and Iron Chef Cook-off on June 30.

Teams cooked a beef entre with side items for judging. There were two teams - Pendrey Farms and the Jackson Family.

Even though the numbers were small for the competition, it was a good night with more than 50 individuals enjoying the delicious buffet at Watchmaker's as the chefs fired up their grills.

Rich and Misty Friedman of Watchmaker's provided the beef for the competition. Freddie Brown provided music and was the emcee for the night.

Judges were Ron Ward, Region 3 Georgia Cattlemen's Association Vice President from Elberton; Sam Moore, Chairman of the Wilkes County Board of Commissioners; and Rich Friedman, Chef at Watchmaker's.

Pendrey Farms team members were Jeff Pendrey, Rhonda Pendrey, and Kim White. They prepared Blackened Ribeye with Hoppin'John.

Jackson Family team members were Frank and Carol Jackson who prepared Grilled Marinated London Broil over Wilted Greens.

The Pendrey Farm team was the winner and received a dinner for two, complements of Watchmaker's, cattlemen aprons, and a goody bag filled with various beef items.
