Funeral services for Lindsey Johnson, 85, of Washington were held Saturday, July 22, 2006, at the New Saints CME Church, Baltimore Road, Washington, with Rev. Charles E. Henderson officiating. Interment was in the New Hope CME Church Cemetery, Lincolnton Road, Washington. He died July 15 at the McDuffie County Hospital in Thomson.

Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Mary Curry Johnson and Mr. Elmore. He was a member of the Gibson Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Viola Johnson of Ann Arbor, Michigan; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Annie Graves of Sharon; and a stepson, Ben Smith.

Pallbearers included Terry Harris, Carey Davis, Frank Gaye, Roger Harper, Jeff Banks, and James I. Cofer.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
