Be careful where you lie
I remember my childhood prayer, "Now I lay me down to sleep; I pray the Lord my soul to keep." We need to lie down with a prayer on our lips and in our hearts. Be careful where you lie! There's an old saying, "If you lie down with the dogs, you will get up with fleas." How true that is.
Samson was enticed to lie in the lap of Delilah and she gave him a close cut and sapped his strength. During the 1920s when lady barbers first came around, a lot of very religious superstitious fanatical men would not let a woman cut their hair. Be careful where you lie!
A fellow in the Bible was lured to drink warm goat's milk. He lay in the lap of a seductive woman and dozed off. Talk about fatal attraction! She drove a large spike through his head. Be careful where you lie!
When I heard that story in Bible study I went home and did away with everything that resembled a spike. Just kidding! But seriously, be careful where you lie!
Let Christ be your shepherd, your leader and guide. Don't be enticed by Satan. Submit to God; resist the devil and he will flee from you. Let Jesus lead you to still waters and lie down in His green pastures where there's peace, comfort and safety.
Can you say "Amen?"
