W-WPRD taking registration for youth football '06 season

The Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department (WWPRD) is accepting registrations for Youth Football 2006.

There will be three age divisions. The Flag Football Division will be for six and seven-year-olds and all games will be played at Ashley Park. Cost is $28.50.

The Pee Wee Division is for boys ages 8, 9, and 10; and the Junior Division is for boys ages 11, 12, and 13.

Game nights will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at the parks and recreation football stadium.

Registration will be held during July and August with the last day to sign up being August 14. Registration will be at the W-WPRD on Lexington Avenue from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

A $47 registration fee includes use of the W-WPRD equipment. The game jersey and mouthpiece will be the players to keep. All W-WPRD equipment must be returned at the end of the season, otherwise the participant must pay for the equipment.

For a $35 fee, the W-WPRD will furnish the jersey and mouthpiece and pay officials. Players must purchase their own helmet, shoulder pads, pants, and pads from a story of their choice. All pants must be white with elastic waist and draw string preferred.

To participate, children must be six years old by September 1, 2006; and age 13 by October 31, 2006.
