Victory Baptist homecoming services set Sunday, Aug. 13
DYKES Victory Baptist Church on the Newtown Road in Wilkes County will have homecoming Sunday, August 13.
The homecoming service at 10 a.m. will be followed by revival services beginning Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. and continuing each evening through Wednesday, August 16. A barbecue dinner with all the trimmings will be served following the homecoming service.
The speaker for the homecoming and revival services will be Dr. Claude M. Dykes, staff evangelist at Temple Baptist Church in Anderson, S.C.
Dr. Dykes was born and reared in South Georgia and has been preaching for more than 45 years. He was married to Nell Smith in 1948 and they have four children and five grandchildren. Mrs. Dykes died in 2004.
The evangelist graduated from Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and has been in evangelistic work for the past eight years. He has been instrumental in starting three new churches.
Jimmy Chapman, pastor of Victory Baptist Church, and the congregation invite everyone who is interested to attend the homecoming and revival services and all other regular services of the church.
