We had a good revival last week with lots of good preaching, good singing, good music (pianist) and thankful for the visitors. Thanks to everyone who helped make this revival a "success." I was disappointed in "our" people Sunday at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Only 54 (or so) showed up after a great revival. I don't know about them, but I need to be fed God's Word more than four nights a week. I know our pastor must feel the same way about our attendance. I am not pointing any fingers as I have people in my own family who do not attend church, and others who do not attend on a regular schedule. This really bothers me and I know we disappoint God by not being faithful to his house and his work. I feel that if you hold an office, or are on a committee, or a deacon or teacher, you need to be there every time the doors are open. There may be a time when you are sick or hindered by something you cannot help, but other times I believe God wants all of us - me included - to be faithful. Let's do better and get our Sunday School and church built up in attendance again. I am not "judging" you, I am simply pouring out my heart and my beliefs. I fail in lots of ways and do not mean to be in judgment of anyone. I went to visit my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wallace in Lincoln County, Tuesday and Sunday. I had dinner with them Sunday. My sister, Nan Goff, and brother-in-law, Richard Goff, and my brother visited several times last week. My dad had eye surgery in Augusta and is doing well from the surgery. We are sorry to report that one of our faithful members, Dr. Joe Harris, had to have surgery last week. He is home and doing well at the time of my writing. We all wish for him a speedy recovery. Visiting Miss Grace Dunaway and Alex Dunaway were Sara Huff, Bobbi Thornton, and Sherry Newsome. Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Gay of Millen and Mrs. Marion Reed of Millen visited Mrs. Jenelle C. Newsome Sunday. I visited Tina Van Hart Saturday and Mrs. Melva Crook in Lincoln County late Sunday. Cassie Goldman, Linda and Peyton Standard, and Mitch Taylor visited Sara Huff during the week. On Sunday Sara enjoyed services at Pierce's Chapel. Rev. Jerry O'Neal of Martinez preached Sunday. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips have been Richard Sleister of Columbia County; Stephanie, Chip, and Skyla Haynes of Washington; and Carolyn Quarles of Wilkes County. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips went to Harlem to Starling Funeral Home to visit with the family of Wayne Meadows, with whom Richard had worked in the forestry division of Wilkes County. Beverly Adams of Woodstock spent the weekend with Mrs. Ray Adams and Sheila Rogers. Other visitors were Miss Betty Moore and Tiffany Rogers of Washington. Jeannie Bruce visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Myers, last week. Mrs. Lucille T. Ingram returned home after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Davenport and Tyler in Hayesville, N.C. Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Ryll, Calley and Connor visited Mrs. Ingram and other family members Sunday afternoon. They enjoyed swimming and also had supper with Mrs. Ingram.
Mrs. Linda Standard, Peyton Standard, Jennifer Houpt, Cassie Goldman and Mitch Taylor visited Mrs. Michelle Smith Walker and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hegge, Aubrey and Braden Walker in Athens Friday. They left Athens and drove to Doraville where they were guests of Russell Goldman Friday night. On Saturday they all visited the Atlanta Aquarium. Trudy Ingram and Lona Chesnut spent Saturday in Augusta. Happy birthday to all who will celebrate birthdays this week. Those I know about are Nan W. Goff on August 3; Trey Kemp and Brandon Linares. I visited briefly with Mrs. Dot Shank and her caregivers last week. I also made several trips to Augusta to doctors last week and a trip to Thomson to my doctor. I had the misfortune of obtaining a stress fracture. How? I don't know. Our prayer concerns include Dr. Joseph Harris, Phyllis Dawson, Sanders and Elizabeth Dallis, Olin Lindsey, Rev. Thompson Holloman, Lois South, Mildred Marett, Priscilla Maxwell, Henrietta Leard, Gary Rogers, Barry Bailey, Charles Bradford, Stephanie Chapman, Roberta Roper, Ethel Harris, Ed Burdette, Kathryn Padgett, Beth Keener, Evans Davis, Warren and Lois Nunn, Johnny Shedd, Mike Webb, Mary Duggan, Bill Mobley, Jack Reynolds, Ronnie Callaway, Carol Howard, Mike Gresham, John Bray, Doris Rhodes, James Smith, Marguerite Thornton, Marjorie Tyler, Gertrude Tyler, Libby Ivey, Mary Wright, Joe Griffin, Denise Edmunds, Asa Bennett, Tony Hogan, Bill Niemann, JoAnn Barden, Leon Aycock, Melva Crook, Margie Hopkins, Mildred Marett, David Lindsey, Geraldine Dill, Thomas Bunch, and Henry N.
