Cory Lynn Slacum
A memorial service celebrating the life of Cory Lynn Slacum, 37, of Dogwood Drive, Washington, will be held Saturday, August 5, 2006, at Fort Washington Park, Washington, at 4 p.m. He died Wednesday, July 26, at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta.
Mr. Slacum was a member of the family of Bobby and Peggy West of Washington, joining them in 1983. He was the son of Kay Slacum Harrell of Florida and Lyn and Una Slacum of Summerville, S.C. He was a native of Cambridge, Maryland, and had lived in Wilkes and Lincoln counties for approximately 30 years. He attended Wilkes County Schools and North Georgia School of Technology in Clarkesville. He was a welder by profession and a member of the
Baptist faith. He was employed as a mechanic and welder in the maintenance department of Pilgrim's Pride, Elberton.
Survivors include a son, Timothy Paul Slacum of Washington; family members, Robby and Jeanne-Marie West, Elizabeth and Aidan, Molly Skeens, Emily, Jim West and Mabel West of Washington; his grandmother, Opel Slacum, Cambridge, Maryland; step-grandfather, Vince Giarida, Chester, Maryland; and a sister, Debra Kay Reeves, Summerville, S.C.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family at 640 Lexington Avenue, Washington; or to the Shock Trauma Unit of the Medical College of Georgia.
