Amy Denise Smothers Kevin Thomas Wheelis Mr. and Mrs. Kedric Smothers of Valdosta announce the engagement of their daughter, Amy Denise, to Kevin Thomas Wheelis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Wheelis of Lawrenceville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe B. Smothers of Chipley, Fla., and the late Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Snell of Bonifay, Fla.

Miss Smothers is a 2001 graduate of Valdosta High School and a 2006 graduate of Valdosta State University where she earned a degree in Music Performance. She is currently employed by Publix as a customer service team leader.

Mr. Wheelis is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Wheelis of Washington and Harold McKelvey and the late Nell McKelvey of Winston.

He is a l996 graduate of Brookwood High School in Snellville and a 2000 graduate of Valdosta State University. Mr. Wheelis is currently employed as a sports director for WSFN Radio in Brunswick.

The wedding is planned for Saturday, August 5, at 2 p.m. at the First Assembly of God in Valdosta. The couple will reside in Brunswick.
