Getting ready.
Washington-Wilkes Tiger football is officially in full swing and the high school athletes are in full pads for the
first time since last December. Following summer
conditioning and drills held in recent weeks, about 65 young men reported for practice on Monday and coaches
began the now shortened tasks of putting together
starting lineups, teaching techniques, and honing skills.
As of right now, there's no telling who will be playing
where when the first kickoff sails. And that's not too far
off - the Tigers open with a jamboree against Elbert County on August 25 in Tiger Stadium beginning at 7:30 p.m. The 2006 season's first regular game will also be at
home when the Screaming Devils of Warren County
come to Washington on September 1.
