Two Wilkes County anglers, Vernon Anthony and Jim McClain (pictured above), placed seventh in the Sportsman Association Black Bass Anglers competition and received cash awards.

The two men were competing against 160 other anglers from all around the country. The competition was the Quad-State First Annual Super Bass Tournament held at Lake Logan Maltin in Pell City, Alabama, during the Labor Day weekend, September 2-3.
