Gamma Tau Chapter holds opening meeting
Gamma Tau Chapter members who met for their opening meeting included (l-r) Linda Banks, Jackie Herndon, Brenda Williams, Sherry DuBois, Mary Elizabeth Burdette, and Peggy Jones. The opening meeting of Gamma Tau Chapter, an international organization of women educators, was held in Washington on Saturday, September 9, beginning with a delicious brunch. President Sherry DuBois thanked the members for the donations of school supplies and children's books.
In keeping with Gamma Tau tradition, the hosting county distributes the school supplies and the children's books in a variety of ways. A short video depicting the history of the organization was shown and members learned that over $2 million in scholarships and $2.8 million in aid to women in over 101 countries has been distributed.
The meeting included roll call by Barbara Maddox from Oglethorpe County and the initiation of Brenda Williams, a teacher in Taliaferro County. Laura Toburen of Wilkes County introduced the new website:
deltakappagamma.org/GAgammatau/ as a work-in-progress.
