Middle school Tigers post first win, 22-14, in Elbert Co.
The W-WMS Tigers brought home their first win from the Granite Bowl in Elbert County last week. The Washington-Wilkes Middle School Tigers posted their first win of the 2006 season last week when they travelled to the Granite Bowl in Elberton and put a 22-14 whipping on the Blue Devils.
Deon Jackson scored two of the young Tigers' touchdowns on long runs and Eric Scott scored the other one. Three other touchdowns were called back for penalties.
"Our defense played great," said head coach Don Keiser. "Trent Martin and Demorris Jackson had a great game." Jackson also caught a 50-yard pass on offense.
On both offense and defense, Keiser praised three linemen, John Gowan, Jarret Gaye, and Brandon Thomas who played the whole game both ways.
At quarterback, Taveras Jones completed two passes for first downs.
Next, the W-WMS Tigers will host Wrens today, September 14, beginning at 5 p.m.
