Cross County Tigers hold their own in events at home and on the road

The Washington-Wilkes Cross Country teams continue to compete and perform well for the school. Most recently the boys team won a three-way competition at Morgan County and placed second in other events. Top Tiger Ian Coe set a course record at Morgan County.
Results from a home event scheduled for Wednesday, October 11, were not available for this edition. Other results, as reported by Coach Steve Echols, are recorded below.
October 4 at Morgan County -
The Tigers traveled to Heritage Park in Morgan County for a three-way meet that also included Putnam County. In the girls race eighth grader Dixie Lee Trim finished third overall with a time of 25:12 and Ricola Patterson finished fourth with a time of 26:00 minutes over the 3.1-mile course.
The Tiger boys won their team competition with a score of 29 points compared to 40 points for Morgan County and 78 points for Putnam County. There were 37 runners in the race. The Tigers were led by Ian Coe who set a course record of 17:49.
Taylor Echols was third at 19:51, James Cade and Tyson Gilland each ran a time of 20:33 and secured sixth and seventh positions, respectively. Jacob Davis was 12th at 21:14, Ryen Scarboro was 13th at 21:18, Brantley Stevens was 14th at 21:24, Evan Harrison was 15th at 21:47, John Lovvorn was 18th at 22:11, Jesse Crago was 21st at 22:45, Rodrigo Rodriquez was 26th at 23:57 and Josh Cosby was 29th at 24:49.
W-WMS boys running in the race included Tyler Stasyshyn at 21:05 and would have been 12th overall if his score had been counted. (Middle school runners' times do not count in high school competition.) John Pope would have been 23rd at 23:18; Josh McLeroy would have been 25th at 23:24, Blake Amis ran 24:03, and Rob Lovvorn ran 28:24.
September 23 at Oglethorpe County
The Tiger CC teams traveled to Oglethorpe Co. Saturday, September 23, for a six-team meet that included Clarke Central, Oconee County, Morgan County, Monroe Area, and Oglethorpe County. The boys team finished fourth and were led by Ian Coe with a time of 18:08. Other runners included: Tyson Gilland at 21:01, Taylor Echols and James Cade at 21:05, John Lovvorn at 21:08, Jacob Davis at 21:11, Brantley Stevens at 21:18, Evan Harrison at 21:42, and Josh Cosby at 25:49.
In the varsity girls' race, Ricola Patterson ran a time of 28:10.
A special middle school race was held over a two-mile course. The W-WMS Tigers were led by Tyler Stasyshyn with a time of 12:25. Tyler finished fourth overall. Other Tiger runners included Josh McLeroy at 13:34, Blake Amis at 13:36, John Pope at 13:39 and Rob Lovvorn at 16:47. In the girls' Middle School race, Dixie Lee Trim finished 5th.
September 19 at Monroe Area -
Seven Tiger runners went to Monroe Area High School to make up a meet that had been cancelled earlier in the season due to thunderstorms. There were 34 runners in this four-team meet that included Elbert County, Monroe Area, and Social Circle. The Tiger boys finished second behind Elbert County. Ian Coe was third at 18:26, Taylor Echols was eighth at 19:28, James Cade was ninth at 19:57, Tyson Gilland was12th at 21:12, Evan Harrison was 13th at 21:33, Ryen Scarboro was 14th at 21:40, and John Lovvorn was 18th at 23:09.
September 11 at Cateechee Golf Course in Hart Co. -
The boys team finished second in a five-team meet with a score of 52. Elbert County won the meet with 33 points, Hart County was third with 73 points, Madison County was fourth with 107 points, and Monroe Area was fifth with 114 points.
The Tigers were led by Ian Coe who finished third overall with a time of 18:12 on the demanding 3.1-mile course. There were 55 boys in the race. Taylor Echols was sixth at 19:13, James Cade was 11th at 20:17, Tyson Gilland was 14th at 20:42, Jacob Davis was 18th at 21:11, Evan Harrison was 20th at 21:28, John Lovvorn was 25th at 21:53, Brantley Stevens was 26th at 22:25, and eighth grader Tyler Stasyshyn would have been 27th with a time of 22:26.
Other Tiger runners included: Ryen Scarboro at 22:58, Jesse Crago at 23:10, Josh McLeroy at 24:31, Rodrigo Rodriquez at 25:15, Blake Amis at 25:44, Josh Cosby at 26:33, John Pope at 26:41, and Rob Lovvorn at 29:08.
There were 48 runners in the girls race with Ricola Patterson finishing 11th at 26:35. Eighth graders Dixie Lee Trim and Angela Broome also competed. Dixie Lee would have been 31st at 31:06 and Angela would have been 39th at 34:33.
