Members of the Washington- Wilkes Primary School NBA (Never Been Absent) Club were rewarded last week for their perfect attendance. Coach Jackson Calhoun took W-WCHS athletes to the primary school to play an "invitation only" exhibition basketball game for NBA members.

Students cheered for players as they displayed entertaining dunks on the primary school-sized basketball goals. Players then worked on dribbling and shooting skills with NBA students. Later that evening, NBA members received free admission into the high school football game against Morgan County.

Each six-weeks grading period, students at W-WPS have the opportunity to become NBA members by attending school all day, every day. Rewards are not always the same but are "definitely worth it!"

School Counselor Fiona Calhoun would like to thank the following people for their assistance in making the NBA day a success: Lois Strong, Sandra Gammon, Dean Sisson, Lisa Lovvorn, Jackson Calhoun, Russell Morgan, Andrew Jackson, Lisa Isham, Florence Sandifer, Ann Tiller, Joy Martin, and the W-WCHS athletes pictured.

W-WCHS athletes who visited W-WPS to participate in an exhibition basketball game were (front row, l-r) Brushunda Brittain, Kiwana Mayes, Shadricka Walton, Tanisha Hanocek, (back) Coach Jackson Calhoun, Dywane Hampton, Larry Davis, Gary Wilburn, and Kelmetrius Wylie. Coach Calhoun selected these particular athletes for their achievements on and off the field.
