HOSA members gain experience providing manicures for ladies
HOSA members Keiundra Blackmon and Marisela Gonzalez spent time with Clara Moragne and Corrine Wallace giving them manicures while gaining valuable experience. Several members from the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) club at W-WCHS and their advisor Ann Harrison visited Wilkes Health Care last Thursday, October 12. The group was able to interact with several residents as they gave manicures. Manicure stations were set up in the dining room and several ladies were delighted to have their nails done.
The purpose of a manicure is to improve the appearance and feel of the hands. Everyone wants soft, at-
tractive hands and cleanly groomed nails. Manicures prevent hangnail formation and prevent nail damages like splits, tears, and fragile tips. The accompanying massage of the hands improves and increases the blood circulation, suppleness, and flexibility of the hands and wrists.
The students and ladies were entertained by the conversation around the table, and the students gained valuable experience in manicure techniques.
