Third graders busy learning science, math, and research
The third grade is a busy place! Students have been studying nonfiction texts over the past few weeks and have already learned about carnivorous plants, weather patterns, and tornadoes. They have also conducted research on the planets.
Students have enjoyed exploring glaciers, learning about the voyage of the Titanic, and learning about puffins. In math the third graders have been working on addition facts and on applying the properties of addition. They have begun using a new computer program for math and reading called Destination Success. With this program, students are actively engaged in reading and math activities, which are all tailored to the student's individual needs.
Destination Success is researchbased. Research has proven it to be an effective tool for student achievement.
The students also enjoyed a field trip to the Super Scientific Circus in Athens on October 19.
During the week of October 23- 27 the entire school is participating in Red Ribbon Week. Students are participating in numerous schoolwide activities during the week to celebrate their pledge to be drug free!
