The annual I'd Rather Be In Tignall Fall Festival will be held on the old school grounds in Tignall on Saturday, November 4, a.m. until 4 p.m.

Family and Friends Day will be held at Pompey's Chapel Baptist Church on the Lundberg Road Sunday, November 5, 2:30 p.m. Pastor Darrell Brantley and the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and Choir of Thomson are in charge.

Flint Hill Church Gospel Choir will celebrate its tenth anniversary Sunday, November 5, 3 p.m.

The Methodist Men of the First United Methodist Church will have chicken barbecue plates for sale on Saturday, November 4, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., eat-in or take-out, in the fellowship hall. Cost is $6 per plate. Tickets are available from church members.

Flu shots will be available at the Wilkes County Health Department on Gordon Street every Thursday from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-4 p.m.

Pompey's Chapel Baptist Church will have family and friends day Sunday, November 5, 2:30 p.m. Pastor Darnell A. Brantley of the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church of Thomson will be the speaker.

The Church of the Mediator will have its annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, December 2.

Beaverdam Baptist Church no longer sponsors the Dial-APrayer ministry, but it is again sometimes available locally. The toll free Dial-A-Prayer number is 1-877-337-7785. Illnesses of individuals in the ministry have caused the interruption of services.

Dan Rosser, Lincolnton Baptist Church; and Rev. Bobby Adams, Goshen Baptist Church. All services are at 7 p.m. The church is located at 483 Elm Street.

The New Sutton's Temple Baptist Church will celebrate the 19th anniversary of the pastor on Sunday, November 19, 12 noon. The speaker will be Minister Fred Weems.

The Optimist Club of Washington's annual Friend of Youth Auction and Barbecue will be held Thursday, November 9, at VFW Post 5899. Plates will be available beginning at 5 p.m. with the auction at 6:30 p.m.

A memorial service honor

Lance Corporal Phil Scarborough, U.S. Marines, will be held in front of the Wilkes County Courthouse on Friday, November 10, at 10 a.m.

Learning In Retirement (LIR), Washington Chapter, offers lectures on art in historical and religious expression by Allie Hardwick at 2 p.m., November 6 and 13, at the Parish House. The lectures cover, specifically, the tapestry of Bayeux as it depicts the Battle of Hastings by which England came to be ruled by France, and the Gothic cathedrals, especially at Chartres. Visitors are welcomed, refreshments will be served.
