Washington Fire Chief Alan Poss (l) welcomed Georgia's State Fire Marshal Alan R. Shuman, Assistant Fire Marshal Chris Stephens, and fire inspector James Crawley last week. They came to bring attention to the annual drive to put smoke alarms in every home and to remind citizens to replace the batteries in existng smoke detectors. Shuman also congratulated Chief Poss on Washington's improved ISO rating. "I don't think there's another city this size that has attained that high a rating," he said. "That's a tremendous accomplishment, and I congratulate Chief Poss and his department.
