Kiwanis, Pizza Hut raise funds, provide academic scholarships

Each year the Kiwanis Club of Washington awards two or three $1,000 academic scholarships to deserving students that are residents of Washington-Wilkes. The club, working with the management of Pizza Hut of Washington, is planning an ongoing fund-raiser to support its academic scholarship fund, according to Kiwanis President Bill Steed.

The scholarship fund-raiser starts next Tuesday, November 7, and will run from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. The event will be repeated the first Tuesday of each month for the next seven months. On those Tuesdays, patrons of the

pizza buffet at Pizza Hut must submit a fund-raiser voucher with their bill for the donation to be made. Pizza Hut will in turn donate a percentage of the ticket to the Kiwanis scholarship fund. Fund-raiser vouchers will be available in The News-Reporter (as printed here) or from any Kiwanis Club member.

Members encourage all those that like pizza (or the delicious salad bar) to join them at Pizza Hut this coming Tuesday and help them support their academic scholarship fundraising efforts - bring family, friends, and neighbors. Children under the age of five eat free with a paid adult at buffet night.
