Dr. Leonard Dupree to debut as interim at Ebenezer Baptist
DUPREE Dr. Leonard Dupree will preach his first sermon as interim pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church at Aonia on Sunday, November 5. Rev. Albert W. Huyck Jr. has retired as pastor after almost 10 years. The service will begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a covered dish meal in the fellowship hall of the church. James Smith, chairman of the active deacons of Ebenezer, invites everyone interested to come and hear Dr. Dupree and remain for the meal.
Dr. Dupree was the preacher for revival services at Ebenezer in July. He also has preached in a revival at the Tignall Baptist Church and two revivals at the First Baptist Church of Washington.
In 2005 Dr. Dupree was the interim pastor of the Lincolnton Baptist Church. For 14 years he was the specialist of church-minister relations of the Georgia Baptist Convention with offices in Atlanta. He is a former pastor of the First Baptist Church of Thomson.
Dr. Dupree and his wife Jackie now live on Fish Dam Road in McDuffie County where he is the founder and president of Meta Ministries. He has both a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Both Dr. Dupree and his wife are natives of Plains, Ga.
