SOUTHERN FRIED FOOTBALL
No sport is quite as exciting and unpredictable as college football! The Clemson Tigers who ascended to the #1 spot in the Dixie Dozen following a thrashing of Georgia Tech were thrashed themselves five days later by Virginia Tech. Coach Bobby Bowden's FSU Seminoles were upset in College Park by a fired-up bunch of Maryland Terrapins. There were other close calls and near upsets across the South last week too. Will we see more of the same this week?
Upset # 1: West Virginia over Louisville by 7 - This game may decide a spot in the BCS Championship game. It will be aired at 7:30 p.m. tonight on ESPN. Don't miss it!
Georgia Tech over N.C. State by 3 - The Yellow Jackets now firmly control the Coastal Division of the ACC. If they take the Pack lightly, however an upset will occur.
Clemson over Maryland by 14 - A bunch of angry Tigers are set to take out their frustrations on a good Maryland team. Clemson's talent and the Death Valley crowd will be too much for the Terps.
Florida over Vanderbilt by 14 - It doesn't matter which QB the Gators use Saturday. Vandy has improved but definitely have not reached Florida's level.
Georgia over Kentucky by 6 - The Wildcats have upset on their minds, but Georgia squeezes another one out.
Alabama by 14 over Mississippi State - The woes continue for Coach Croom and his Dogs.
Notre Dame by 28 over North Carolina - Basketball season can't get here quickly enough for the beleagured Tar Heels.
Upset #2: Tennessee over LSU by 3 - The Bengals are actually favored on the road in Knoxville. The Vols and their home crowd will be just enough to give LSU its third loss.
Arkansas over South Carolina by 3 - The Gamecocks come close in another one, but Arkansas's breather against UL Monroe last week provided extra time to prepare for the Gamecocks.
Florida State by 10 over Virginia - Virginia is getting better, but Florida State has too many weapons for the Cavaliers.
Virginia Tech over Miami by 10 - The Hokies finally have things going in the right direction. Miami is going the other way.
