Wilkes Parks & Recreation 9-10 All-Stars take first place in season ending tourney

The 9-10-year-old Division All Star Team of the Washingiton- Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department (W-WPRD) placed first in the end of the season Youth Football Tournament. The team is coached by Detric Jones, Keith Evans, B.J. Gartrell, and Vince Wilkinson.

The 11-12-year-old Tigers, coached by Tommy Saggus, Keith Hubbard, and Keith Evans, placed second in the Washington-Wilkes- Oglethorpe All Star Tournament Saturday, November 4.

The teams ended regular season play on Thursday, October 26, with one game played between the 9-10- year-old Cowboys and the 9-10- year-old Steelers.

The Cowboys, coached by Keith Evans and B.J. Gartrell, won over the Steelers, coached by Vince Wilkinson and Rodney Welborn.

The 9-10-year-old Falcons, coached by Detric Jones and Andy Edwards, captured the most wins for the season by defeating the Steelers October 24. The 9-10-year-old Eagles team had a great season as well, coached by Tom Burk and Tom Stilwell.

Recreation flag football developed two teams, the Tigers and the Panthers. Both teams showed a lot

of enthusiasm while learning the game. Milton Turner coached the Panthers, and Bernard Welborn coached the Tigers.
