Cookie dough arrives distribution begins; Beta Club members attending convention

Washington-Wilkes Middle School teachers and students are eagerly awaiting the upcoming Thanksgiving break. There will be no school November 22-26. Please enjoy the break with your families.

The cookie dough is in and students and their parents may pick these orders up today, November 16, starting at 1 p.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m. Students will be delivering their orders promptly starting today. If you have any questions about the cookie dough fundraiser, please call the middle school office.

Several Beta Club students are attending Beta Club convention in Macon, Georgia. The convention is today and Friday. We wish them well as they compete against Beta Club members from all over Georgia.

Two students have been selected from each grade level for student of the month. The students selected must have a positive attitude, a strong desire to learn, excellent behavior, and a willingness to help others. The October students of the month were: Gold Walton, Kohen Wolfe, Damion Huff, Mallory Powell, Adrain Carter, and Shakevia Graves.

Basketball season is in progress. The boys won their last game against Lincoln County in Lincoln County by the score of 66-33. The boys' team is coached by Mark Ward. The team members are D. J. Barnett, Andre Crane, Tevin Curry, Jarrett Gaye, Terry Graves, Da'quan Heard, Deon Jackson, Desmond Jackson, Keenan Jackson, Teverrius Jones, Matson Keiser, and Eric Scott. The mangers for this year are Neeko Jones and Justin Bennett.

The girls were looking for their second win in a row against the Lincoln County girls, but this was not to be. They lost by the score of 37-27. The girls' team is coached by Wanda Jackson. The team members are Dauri Binns, Kenya Burns, Aaliyah Conaway, Natassia Fanning, Sanquela Gresham, Keiera Harden, Charlene Hawes, Raven Jenkins, Shakelia Mahoney, Shanika Mayes, Ashley Miller, Shanta Nash, Denisha Norman, Tatyana Simmonds, Quintika Smith, Kimbricus Sturgis, and Shakeema Young. The mangers for this year are Dayzja Gartrell, Danyelle Hurley, and Rashida Watson.

The basketball teams will be in action again on November 20 for a home game against Taliaferro County. The first game starts at 4 p.m. at the middle school. The middle school wrestling team has a tournament at North Hall High School in Gainesville. Please try to support our students as they compete.

The yearbook committee would like to remind parents orders are now being taken for this year's middle school yearbook. The yearbooks are $26.00. You can order by paying the full purchase price now or you may pay $13 now and $13 later. Call the middle school office at 706-678-7132 for details.
