Graveside services for James Howard Thaxton, 75, of Union Point were held Friday, November 10, 2006, in the Carters Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bill King officiating. He died November 7.

Mr. Thaxton was a native of Taliaferro County and had lived in the area all of his life. He was the son of the late Elton Thaxton and Sarah Thaxton and the widower of Annie Young Thaxton. He was retired from the steel fabrication industry.

Survivors include a son, William Gunn, and his wife Joyce, of Eatonton; four daughters, Jean G.

Dolvin, Greensboro, Joyce Walker, Jacksonville, Fla., Lillie Davis and her husband James, Washington, and Lola Davis, Davisboro; two sisters, Delene Hubbard, Union Point, and Marvelle Graves, Washington.

Pallbearers included Marc Richards, Bobby Spivey, Bobby Moore, Charles Edwards, Lee Yearwood, and Stan Jackson. Grandsons served as honorary pallbearers and included Ken Davis, David Wilder, Chris Walker, and Eric Walker.

Hopkins Funeral home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
