Mrs. Joe Harris presents program for Mary C. Reid Women on Mission

Mrs. Joe Harris presented a program on The Salvation Army at the meeting of the Mary C. Reid Women on Mission of the First Baptist Church Tuesday morning, November 7, in the Conference Room.

Mrs. Harris gave a brief history of The Salvation Army and a description of its mission, most specifically that of the Wilkes County Service Unit. She ended her presentation by passing out a sign-up sheet for Christmas bell ringing. Prior to her program, Mrs. Dennis Hopkins welcomed the group and led the reading of the WMU Watchword. She read a passage about prayer that was especially observed on the World Day of Prayer and written by Wanda Lee, National

WMU Executive Director. Mrs. Hopkins ended the devotional time with prayer.

Mrs. Gene Pollock offered a prayer for those with special needs.

Members were reminded that First Baptist Church will host the Lottie Moon Missions Banquet on Thursday evening, November 16, and the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are due by November 17.

Mrs. Eldon Holes gave the prayer calendar and prayed for the missionaries.
