Lady Tigers receive awards at annual banquet
Lady Tigers who received plaques from Coach Rob Jackson (left) at the 2006 Softball Banquet are Lindley Hall, Most Valuable Player; Jaleesa Hampton, Best Offensive Player; Lindsey Guin, Best Defensive Player; and Taylor Echols, Coach's Award. Jaleesa Hampton, Lindsey Guin, Taylor Echols, and Linley Hall received four special awards voted on by their teammates at the W-W Lady Tigers' annual awards banquet last week.
Coach Rob Jackson presented the awards to Jaleesa Hampton, Best Offensive Player; Lindsey Guin, Best Defensive Player; Taylor Echols, Coach's Award; and Lindley Hall, Most Valuable Player. The awards were presented at the annual Varsity Softball Banquet that was held at the McGill-Woodruff Agriculture Center on Thursday, November 9.
The senior softball players Emily Martin, Ashton Hardin, and Lindley Hall, welcomed family members and special guests W-WCHS Principal Andrew Jackson and Assistant Principal Steve Echols to the banquet. The dinner was prepared by Eric Holton and FFA Members.
Coach Rob Jackson gave remarks and highlights from the season. He mentioned that the senior softball players were the first group to pay fast-pitch softball as ninth graders in 2003. The 2006 Lady Tigers Softball team finished fourth in region and lost to Oconee County by a score of 5-2. Jackson also expressed his gratitude to the parents of the players for their support throughout the season.

The softball players who were presented with a varsity letter are Emily Martin, Ashton Hardin, Lindley Hall, Jaleesa Hampton, Ashley Burt, Angel Acree, Drenika Gartrell, Lindsey Guin, Nikki Freeman, Taylor Echols, Yakira Banks, Loni Thomson, Rana Davis, Gracen Ware, and Ashley West.
The highlight of the banquet was a slide show of the season, which was made by the senior softball players. The senior softball players received special gifts from the team. The players were each given a gold ornament with their name and softball number painted on it.
Thanks were expressed to Winnie Martin, Alice Hardin, and Pam Hall for their help in preparing the banquet.
