Tench sets kicking records
With his field goal against the Callaway Cavaliers last Friday in Tiger Stadium, kicker Mark Tench set a new school record for field goals in a career. Previously held by Bernard Welborn (1992-95) at 11, the new record now stands at an even dozen for Tench.
The record was the third set so far by Tench who has also set the mark for most point kicking in a career with 146 (passing Scottie Long's 107 in 1983-85) and most points kicking in a season with 55 so far this year (passing Welborn's 54 in 1995).
Tench is also second only to John Duggan for the longest field goal on record with the 40-yarder he booted against Warren County in 2004. And he stands first for field goals attempted in a season with 11 in 2005.
The kicker's other standings also put him second to Welborn (6 in 1995) with 5 field goals in a season (2005). Twice he kicked two field goals in one game (2005 vs. Lincoln Co. and 2004 vs. Warren Co.) and he is first in career PATs 110/119 (2004-2006) passing Scottie Long (86/92 1983- 85) this year. He is second for PATs in a season with this year's 43/45 behind Greg Davidson's 52/54 (1969).
