I hope everyone will have a very happy Thanksgiving. It seems that Thanksgiving has almost been bypassed this year. The stores went from Halloween right into Christmas decorations. We have so much to be thankful for but we take a lot for granted and fail to thank God for his many blessings. Many friends and relatives have visited Mrs. Evans Davis during the week. Sue appreciates all the prayers, cards, food and everything that has been done for her during this time. After spending some time with her mother, Faye Scoggins returned home to Augusta Saturday evening. Mrs. Iris Dyson accompanied Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer Tuesday and enjoyed the delicious lunch and entertainment for seniors at the Tignall Baptist Church. As usual Pat Bobo and her helpers did a great job. Rev. and Mrs. Clarence Lance arrived in Washington Wednesday afternoon. They attended prayer meeting with Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lance at the First Baptist Church. On Thursday night they were guest speakers at the Lottie Moon Missions Banquet at the First Baptist Church. They showed slides and told many interesting details of their work as missionaries in Burkina Faso, West Africa, for 20 years. Members of the Lance family gathered at Ryan's in Athens to celebrate the birthdays of Boyce and Clarence. Twenty-five members were present. Those from this area were Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lance, Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Adkinson, Mrs. Iris Dyson, and Mrs. Sara Dees. Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer visited Mr. and Mrs. Bud Spinks in Carlton Saturday afternoon. Benjamin Hodges spent Saturday night with Charlie Branham. Rev. and Mrs. Clarence Lance were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lance Sunday evening and attended services at the First Baptist Church with them. We are glad Brad Sutherland had successful eye surgery in Augusta last week.
