Christmas parade through downtown ushers in Christmas season for 2006

Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus rode on one of the Tignall Fire Department trucks. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus rode on one of the Tignall Fire Department trucks. The Tignall Christmas parade was a huge success. There was no charge for entering the parade, but we feel we should express our appreciation to everyone who entered and had a part in the parade.

We were very disappointed that the Washington-Wilkes Tiger Marching Band could not be in the parade, but we had the spirit and some of us made our own music.

Adding a lot to the parade were the Washington-Wilkes Shriners, Granite City Shriners of Elberton, Georgia Power Co., Black Rock Church, Mallorysville Baptist Church, Pole Branch Baptist Church, Reeves Chapel, Tabor Baptist Church, and Trinity Baptist Church.

The Northeast Georgia Eagles Motorcycle Club was present as well as David Eberhardt with his 1934 red Ford Coupe, and the Randy Luke family.

The Tignall Fire Department had three fire trucks and one was carrying Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. (We hope Mrs. Santa had on long johns for she looked cold.) Several horses and their riders looked festive with even some horses wearing Santa hats. There were riders on dressed up golf carts and four-wheelers, and the sheriff's department and Tignall policeman Larry Fort were especially helpful.

Reeves Chapel Baptist Church Reeves Chapel Baptist Church Mayor Richard Gammon and his wife Carolyn, and grandson, Curt Gammon, rode at the front of the parade in their convertible.

Many people have called and commented about enjoying the parade. We saw the faces of many children and knew they enjoyed it along with the two personal care homes in town.
