Iris Garden Club members enjoy Christmas Brunch

Lafayette Manor on East Robert Toombs Avenue was the setting for the Iris Garden Club Christmas Brunch Tuesday, December 12.

Prior to the brunch Karen Stubbs, president, called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.

Reports were given by Franny Robinson, secretary, and Cathy Stackhouse, treasurer. Mrs. Stubbs passed around get well and thinking of you cards for members to sign.

Mrs. Stubbs continued the meeting by giving a horticultural comment on mistletoe. She also mentioned the Butterfly Garden in Washington, D.C., that members might be interested in visiting. She reported that the State of Georgia has planted 210,000 daffodil bulbs along the Georgia roadsides as a beautification project.

Reports from committees included plans of the nominating committee; Christmas at Callaway Grey House Christmas decorating, and the Night of Lights Committee. The Environmental Education Committee reported that seed packets had been donated to be placed in the

Angel Tree boxes which were distributed to 130 needy families in the area and the Nursing Home Gardens Committee reported new plants had been planted to replace old ones and weeding and mulching had been done.

It was noted that the first meeting in 2007 will be January 9 at 10 a.m. at the Parish House and Mrs. Stubbs will present a program, “Butterflies.”

Names were drawn for door prizes.

Oleta McAvoy offered the blessing for the delightful brunch.
