Ga. ID cards will be available Feb. 3 at Wills Memorial Hospital parking lot

The identification cards that some voters may need to vote will be available next week.

The mobile licensing Georgia Licensing On Wheels (GLOW) bus will visit Wilkes County on Friday, February 3, and will be parked at Wills Memorial Hospital from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Citizens must be able to board the bus to be issued an ID card. The bus will not be providing any other licensing services other than Georgia Identification Cards.

Georgia Identification Cards are $20 for a five-year card or $35 for a ten-year card. Those that are indigent may request a free ID Card. The GLOW Bus can only accept cash. Documentation is required from each applicant to verify personal identity, Georgia residency and citizenship. For most this is satisfied with an original birth certificate plus a rental agreement or bank statement. For a complete list of acceptable documents, visit www.dds.ga.gov.

Citizens must know their correct social security number, but it is not necessary to present the actual social security card.

The Department of Drivers Services is scheduling group appointments for churches, clubs and civic organizations that need assistance obtaining photo identification. Reservations can be made to visit specific driver’s license Customer Service Centers throughout the state. This ensures that groups can be issued Georgia Identification Cards or Georgia Identification Cards for Voting Purposes at a customer service center in an efficient and convenient manner. Organizations may call the Contact Center at 678-4138649 to schedule group reservations.

Appointments can not be made for individuals; however, ID Cards are issued Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the 54 driver’s license centers throughout the state.
