Everyone has been enjoying this beautiful weather, working in their yards and gardens. The birds are singing, the grass is getting green, and the flowers are pretty in bloom. Many from our community went to Hopkins Funeral Home for visitation of the family of Billy Dawson Saturday night of last week. Fred Corbett and Bonnie Boatwright attended the graveside service for Billy Dawson at Washington Wilkes Memorial Garden. Peter Hoffmann preached a comforting sermon and Rev. Jim Edwards prayed an uplifting prayer. Fred Corbett sang "What a Day That Will Be." A large crowd gathered to pay their respects and there were many beautiful flowers to show the love of family and friends. Others from our community attending were Melvin and Josephine Crawford, Nell Hubbard, Dorothy Callaway, Ruby Arnold, and Christine Sherrer. Aubrey and Kathryn Jackson of Mableton and J.W. Boatwright spent Saturday afternoon with Fred and Ann Corbett. Other visitors during the week were Bonnie Boatwright, Nina Boatwright, Richard Byrd, Peggy Callaway, Ruth Flynt, Penny Callaway, Shirley Bufford, Wilda Boatwright, Shawn Turner, Dan and Beverly Corbett, Catherine Callaway, Mildred Sisson, Esther Dawson and Mildred Hackney. Mildred Sisson and Catherine Callaway visited Mrs. Annis Saxon in Abbeville, S.C., recently and were glad to find her well after recovery from hip replacement surgery. Ruth Glynt's visitors Saturday afternoon were Gloria Hardy and Bonnie Boatwright. David Randall, Margie Randall, and James Randall enjoyed going to Atlanta to the Georgia Aquarium with the Heritage Club Tuesday of last week. Everyone was excited as they saw all kinds of wild sea creatures including whales, sharks, sea turtles and penguins. They also enjoyed stopping in Social Circle to eat at the Blue Willow and browsing in the gift shop there. Kim Berry and Aaliya visited Lamar and Kay Berry Friday night. Bonnie Boatwright and Kay Berry visited Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson in Washington Wednesday evening. Malvin and Kay Vaughn of Marietta spent the weekend with Mrs. Annie Blanche Vaughn. Brooke Berry and Kaitlyn attended a birthday party for Maddie Gunter Saturday afternoon. Maddie was four years old. Bonnie Boatwright spent last Thursday with her sister, Martha Jones, in Bogart. They went to Fire Mountain where they met their other sister, Frankie Jones of Athens, for a wonderful lunch. Prayers are for Dorothy Callaway, Sharon Smith, Ann Corbett, Richard Davis, and all the sick and bereaved. Rev. Clarence Cannon brought the message at Sardis Baptist Church Sunday morning in the absence of Rev. John Mark Carpenter. Visiting Mildred Sisson Saturday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. David Sisson and Jessica of Douglasville, and his mother and aunt, Nell McAvoy and Vic Howell. Our condolences go out to Rev. and Mrs. John Mark Carpenter in the death of her mother, Lorena Hawkins, in Gainesville. Rubye Armour, Martha Hall, Denise Armour, and Angela Armour went to Gainesville to visit with the family at Ward's Funeral Home Saturday. Going to the funeral service on Sunday were Jack Armour, Norman Echols, Lyn Armour, and Tracy Armour. Boyce and Pam Hall also attended the funeral in Gainesville. Family night was held at Sardis Baptist Church Sunday night with a covered dish meal and mission meetings. Rev. and Mrs. Clarence Cannon had Sunday dinner with Charles and Nina Boatwright and Randy Boatwright. Beaverdam Baptist Church was decorated with yellow daffodils, forsythia and pink camellias Sunday. After a wonderful Sunday School lesson by Leeman Stewart, Rev. Jim Edwards brought the message of God's Word. William Morrison played the piano for the special, "What a Day That Will Be," by Rev. Edwards. Paul and Hannah Wright are the proud parents of a baby girl born Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens. She weighed 7 lbs., 12 ounces, and has been named Ava Melinda. Tim and Gail Stewart are the proud grandparents and Alyssa is a very proud aunt. Leeman and Mary Stewart and Johnny and Kathryn Shedd are proud greatgrandparents. Becky Orr and Isabella came down Sunday from Covington to spend the day with Billy and Doris Walker. Debra Sherrer, Whitney and Lindsey visited in the afternoon while they were here. Susan Amason came down from Flowery Branch to spend the weekend with her brother, Billy Amason. A birthday cake and ice cream party was given for Bradley Parker on his birthday Saturday afternoon. Bradley was four years old and was honored at the home of his greatgrandmother, Betty Berry. Others coming for the celebration were his parents, Lee and Shelley Parker, Tristan and Lila, Sybil Vaughn, Donnie and Kris Berry, Jessica and Abbi, Tom and Sandra Parker, Joshua Parker, Bridgett Long and friend Josh, Heather Armour and Raeleigh, and Sara Long. We were saddened to hear about the death of Elizabeth Ann (Beth) Randall Glenn, daughter of David Randall. Besides her father, she is survived by a son, Michael Glenn; three grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Bebe, Josie Neubaum, and Jeanie Collins; and one brother, James (Jimbo) Randall. A memorial service was held Sunday at Hopkins Funeral Home in Washington. The family has our deepest heartfelt sympathy. Charlie Arnold of Athens came down Friday to help Mr. Ralph and Miss Elizabeth Smith with chores and errands. Bobby and Sandra also visited one day. They got a surprise visit from Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hallford of Demorest one day. Ralph and Elizabeth accompanied Wilda Boatwright to Watkinsville to visit their sister, Annette Hughes. Shirley Chafin attended the gospel singing and soup supper at Pentecost Chapel Saturday night. Others from this area attending from this area were the Whittington sisters, Margie Rogers, Sadie, Inez Moore, Daisy Parker, and Esther Dawson. They were joined there by their brother, Virgil Whittington, and his wife Emily. They report some mighty good singing, supper and fellowship. Sudie Kennedy and Shirley Chafin of our neighborhood went to Wendy's Tuesday and enjoyed playing bingo. Visitors of George and Ann Wideman during the week were Leeman and Mary Stewart, Buster Winfrey, Larry Maxwell, James, David and Mathew Wideman. George celebrated his birthday Monday, March 13. Frances Fendley and Debra Armour and Rebecca took Amber Armour and Josh Callaway to Athens to go to the movies while they did some shopping. Jessie Williamson and Seba Williamson had lunch Sunday with their mother, Ann Williamson. Having supper with Ann were Lyn and Nancy Williamson. Bob and Pat Preston visited Sunday evening. Sandy Whittington and Avery Hall spent Friday night in Crawford with Neil and Kim Frankel, Zachery and Kyle. Fred Weidner of Lexington came to have supper with them. Faye Johnson came from Gray to spend the weekend with her sister, Ruby Arnold. She brought her friend, Christy Reed, with her and all of them attended the benefit barbecue given by Raymond and Teresa Arnold at Hogan's Store to help with the funeral expenses of James Bonner who died recently. They appreciated all who came. Teresa Davis Arnold is recuperating nicely from surgery at Regional Medical Center in Athens. Ruby Arnold and Dorothy Callaway attended the memorial service for Beth Randall Glenn at Hopkins Funeral Home in Washington Sunday afternoon.
