Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Marion Aycock of Lincolnton announce the engagement of their daughter, Amberly Ward, to Philip Louis Roberts, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Isaac Roberts of Washington.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ina Drinkard Spratlin and the late Marcus Ward Spratlin and the late Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Maynard Aycock of Lincolnton.

She is a 2002 graduate of Lincoln County High School and a 2006 graduate of Furman University in Greenville, S.C., where she earned at Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. Miss Aycock is a graduate student at Furman University.

Mr. Roberts is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William J. Hogan III and the late Mr. and Mrs. James R. Roberts.

He is a 2001 graduate of Washington Wilkes Comprehensive High School and a 2005 graduate of Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics Education. Mr. Roberts is employed as a teacher and coach at Nathanael Greene Academy in Siloam.

The wedding is planned for Saturday, December 2, at 7 p.m. at the Lincolnton Baptist Church in Lincolnton.
